A Few Weeks Working on this Sh'niz

Tolkien fans may argue that he never used apostrophes randomly in elvish to make it seem more exotic and I'm just making it up or confusing it with "less serious" fantasy sources. I'm going to ignore them because I like upsetting Tolkien fans (PS I'm a Tolkien fan) because I think Tom Bombadil is the absolute worst and I don't find a whole lot of pleasure reading about what Frodo ate for breakfast. I just don't need an entire chapter dedicated to a dude singing about his yellow boots and super hot wife. Therefore: all elvish script in all fantasy settings uses apostrophes to look cool. There, I said it. We all know that "Sh'niz Gettin' R'eal" is the exact phrase Gandalf spoke to Elrond at the forming of The Fellowship. "Sauron's back. Sh'niz Gettin' R'eal."

Sh'niz Gettin' R'eal live to two track 8.4.2026

I've had a lot of fun developing these riffs over the last month. It's a composition which is certainly making me realize how influential video game music has been in my life. The two main parts of this song remind me of a platformer. I can envision Sonic the Hedgehog running through a grungy dystopia. It gives me Sega vibes. No sunshine and Nintendo here.

The bass synth effect on the outro is achieved via the bit crusher distortion setting on the Bananana Matryoshka pedal. The rest of the song I'm running the bass through a Earthquaker Devices Spatial Delivery Envelope Filter and a Bass Big Muff Pi.
